Ski Chamonix - Customize your Chamonix ski vacations with Ski.com

Mountains rule in Chamonix, where some of the world's best expert skiing can be found on the jagged peaks and glaciers that rise 12,500 feet above the valley. A proving ground for alpinists, mountaineers and skiers from all over the world, Chamonix has more of an authentic alpine flair than resort glitz and glamour. Tucked beneath the shadow of 15,767-foot Mont Blanc, the power and beauty of this area are unmatched.

This France ski vacation location is the oldest ski resort in France, and is really a quaint village of 10,000 people where the tradition of fine skiing combines with the diversities a town this size can provide. With a Chamonix ski vacation discover five main ski areas through the valley that offer 50 lifts and varied terrain for skiers of all abilities.

Your Chamonix Vacation

Le Brevent cable car begins just above the town and climbs to over 8,000 feet. Les Houches, Le Tour and sunny La Flegere is where beginners and intermediates will find many trails to ski. Les Grands Montets is the most popular area for the intermediate and the more advanced skiers.

Strong intermediate and above skiers will want to accept the challenge of the Aiguille du Midi, reached by a two-stage cable car. This 7,000 foot descent on and along the glacier of Vallee Blanche includes spectacular mountain scenery dominated by Mont Blanc, Europe's highest mountain.

For non-skiing hours, shops brim with crafts, fine clothing and perfumes. Horseback riding, swimming, tennis and ice skating are available. The casino and a variety of night spots will fill your evenings. Your Mt. Blanc ski pass also includes Courmayeur, Italy, Megeve and Les Contamines, France. Gateway: Geneva.

Come ski Chamonix with Ski.com. Ski.com can provide you with accommodations, air travel, ground transportation, lift tickets, ski or snowboard rentals, activities to events around town and more. The Ski Instructors are very friendly and...

Magnifique!

Excellent
Taking two children on an escorted trip was great.  We loved the quaint village, eating and skiing with new (and old) friends. The kids loved skiing France, Switzerland, and Italy.  Having ski guides and escorts enabled us to not having to read the trail map or bus schedules once. Now that's a vacation!

Chamonix offers happiness for just about every type of skier.  The terrain is abundant and diverse, the village provides post-ski entertainment and the food is very good.  I went with an escorted group which facilitated the arrangements for guides (required for certain areas) and decisions about where to ski, but anyone with a...
